Kazakhstan Astana Light rail project is the first urban light rail line in Central Asia, and the first rail transit project in Central Asia, It is all adopt Chinese standards and Chinese equipment; This light rail line connects landmark buildings and key functional areas such as the International Airport, Nazarbayev University, Expo Park, Grand Mosque of Astana, ABU Dhabi Square, Ministry of Defense, the presidential Palace, the National Information Technology Center, the Central Music Hall, the National Museum, and the new railway station. It is a representative project of the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
The total length of the Kazakhstan Astana light rail project is about 22.4 km, After the light rail project completed and opened to traffic, the commuting time at both ends of the light rail can be reduced by nearly half, and it will become the most technologically representative urban rail transit project in Kazakhstan and even in Central Asia, This light rail will promoting the upgrading of local transportation infrastructure, Dramatically improved the transportation efficiency of Astana residents, and contributing to high-quality economic and social development.
